Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal 

As we already alluded to, this deal depends on the rest of this season for Chicago. 

If they shape up and make strides, they may want to keep DeRozan. Even winning a playoff series could inspire that decision. On the other hand, a play-in exit should not satisfy this veteran-heavy squad. 

If the Bulls fall short, it’s time to retool. This may not be the only move they make this summer. Trading any member of their core would be acceptable. 

That holds especially true for DeRozan. This is an aging star who doesn’t space the floor and can struggle on defense. The Bulls may want to trade him before they can’t even get a first-round pick for him.

We may not know what DeRozan’s NBA future looks like, but at his age, it’s probably going downhill.
