Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal 

The Nets are in a difficult position. It’s hard to know exactly where they go from here. 

Ordinarily, we’d recommend they trade Kevin Durant for a haul of draft picks and rebuild. Unfortunately for Brooklyn, they owe their first-round picks to the Houston Rockets through to 2027.

They could still go that route. With that said, owner Joe Tsai doesn’t seem interested in doing so. It appears as if the Nets will put the best product they can on the floor, at any cost. 

If that’s the plan, this is a perfect deal for them. They’re landing Durant a new co-star in Fred VanVleet. While he’s not as talented as Irving, he’s still a dynamic offensive player.
