A few years ago, it was James Harden who held that position. It’s important to understand that when we talk about heliocentric basketball, we are referring to an offensive system that has one elite player getting extraordinary amounts of playing time.
The right playmaker can make this system one of the most effective in the league. The downside is, however, that it also appears to be limited in some way. It is likely that quality defenses will limit the effectiveness of a heliocentric system during the playoffs.
Maybe that is why the Toronto Raptors have acquired so many ball handlers over the years. On the other hand, they are experiencing the opposite problem.
