Obviously, Gordon’s dissatisfaction with the state of Space City is not entirely his fault.
It is clear that this is not merely a rebuilding process: this team is tanking as a whole. It becomes more and more likely with every loss the Rockets pile up, that they will be able to secure the picks for one of the top prospects in the upcoming draft, such as Victor Wembanyama, Scoot Henderson, or one of the other young stars.
Sadly, Gordon’s career won’t be judged on the basis of the mentorship that he provided. In order to measure his success, we will look at both his individual stats as well as the success of his team. Although he has a great deal of talent and ability, he has not been able to secure a championship that will enhance his legacy.
In contrast, LeBron James has been able to secure four. Despite that, he would like to have more.
