Why The Atlanta Hawks Do The Deal 

There is no doubt that this deal is harder to justify for the Hawks. The team that loses its best player always suffers as a result. 

There is no reason why the Hawks should do this unless they are forced to do so. In some rumors, it has been suggested that there is discord between Young and the front office.

There is a possibility that the Hawks may have to pursue a trade if the situation becomes toxic enough. 

If that is the case, then this is a good return. In this deal, the Hawks receive four first-round picks. In my opinion, that is a very good return for a player with Young’s defensive limitations.

As a result of this trade, the team may choose to build around Murray in the future. Frankly, he’s always been a point guard anyway. It would make sense for him to pair up with Sexton in the backcourt. 

Unless, of course, one of those picks turns out to be a better option than the other two.
