Why The Los Angeles Lakers Do The Deal
The Lakers don’t need Bamba to produce like a lottery player.
After all, this team already has a well-defined hierarchy. They simply need players who complement LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and (to a lesser extent) Russell Westbrook.
Bamba ought to do the trick. His offensive game may be raw, but he’s still a rim-protecting big man who spaces the floor. With a minimized role, he ought to thrive.
He could be especially important in maximizing Westbrook. After all, he’s always been at his best when everyone else on the floor could shoot.

Bamba could anchor four-out lineups that provide Westbrook ample space for driving and passing. If that’s something the Lakers want badly enough, this is a good deal for them.
