Brooklyn Nets Shopping Joe Harris, Seth Curry, Patty Mills

Brooklyn Nets, Patty Mills, Joe Harris, Seth Curry, NBA Trade Rumors

The Brooklyn Nets had about as bad of a start to an NBA season as a team could. They parted ways with head coach Steve Nash after seven games, and All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving served an eight-game suspension for anti-Semitic media shared on his Twitter account.

The team is now facing another hurdle as they have been without Kevin Durant for seven games and counting, going 2-5 thus far. He will be sidelined for about another two weeks because of an MCL sprain, which will test the Nets’ mettle.

Playing without their star is not easy, but reinforcements could be on the way soon. According to Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer, the Nets are aggressively looking for upgrades ahead of the February 9th trade deadline. Joe Harris, Seth Curry and Patty Mills have reportedly been made available for trade.

But Brooklyn isn’t being complacent ahead of the trade deadline. League sources say the Nets are one of the teams more actively looking for upgrades before the stretch run. Joe Harris ($18.6 million), Seth Curry ($8.5 million), and Patty Mills ($6.5 million) could be involved in trades because of their short-term salaries and the fact that they’ve been playing lesser roles lately.

Seth Curry could have the most value of the three aforementioned players. He has gotten things on track recently, stepping up with Durant sidelined. He scored a season-high 32 points in his last outing against the Philadelphia 76ers, giving him eight straight games with double-digit points scored.

Joe Harris remains a deadly 3-point shooter, something plenty of teams would love to add to their roster. He has the size to hold up defensively on the wing as well, as he won’t be a liability on that end of the court for whichever team wants to acquire him.

Patty Mills has been out of the Nets’ rotation even with Durant sidelined. A change of scenery would do him some good as the veteran can still provide a scoring spark off the bench, good 3-point shooting and some playmaking.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see him dealt to a rebuilding team that buys him out, allowing him to pick a team to finish the season out with and contend for a championship.
