Why The Phoenix Suns Do The Deal 

This is a very risky deal for the Suns. There’s no denying that. 

If they surrender a first-round pick in exchange for VanVleet, they could regret it. After all, he’s due for free agency this summer: who’s to say he’ll be content in Phoenix? 

Some risks are simply worth taking. VanVleet should be a perfect complement to the rest of this core.

If everything clicks, he should join Devin Booker, Mikal Bridges, and Deandre Ayton in a group that can be successful for years.
