Frankly, this was always inevitable. 

When the Suns signed Paul, we all thought the same thing. He made total sense in the short term, but he was always on a different timeline than the rest of this roster in the long term sense. 

It’s hard to say that it wasn’t worth it. The Suns made the NBA Finals behind Paul’s guidance. They may have fallen short of the ultimate prize, but that’s still an accomplishment. 

It doesn’t look like one they’ll accomplish this season.

At 21-24, the Suns are on course to miss the playoffs. They certainly don’t look like a team that’s about to make a Finals appearance.
