Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal
The Knicks don’t necessarily covet Beverley here. They’re simply moving on from Rose.
Allegedly, there’s a mutual interest in parting between the two parties. Rose has fallen out of New York’s rotation after adding Jalen Brunson in free agency. The Knicks seem intent on moving him to a better situation.
Meanwhile, Beverley hasn’t met expectations as a Laker this year either. That’s fine. He remains a significantly better defensive guard than Rose.
He’s probably a more fitting backup, too. All told, this deal rids the Knicks of any bad feelings in the locker room while netting them a player who can fulfill the role they need.
