When something holds true for long enough, it’s easy to assume it’ll never change. There are some prime examples of this in the NBA.

One plus one equals two. It always will. We don’t need to worry about that one. On the other hand, everything isn’t that simple. Frankly, hardly anything is. 

The Sacramento Kings have been bad for a long time. We’ve grown accustomed to assuming they’ll be bad. In 2022-23, that assumption is unfounded. 

At 24-18, the Kings are good. They’ll probably even break their league-record 16-year playoff drought.

At the same time, making one more win-now deal might help them solidify their odds of doing so.
