Why The Toronto Raptors Do The Deal 

The Raptors are in an interesting position. 

Yes, they’ve underperformed this season. Still, there’s plenty of win-now talent on this roster. In fact, this deal doesn’t even have them parting with their best players. 

Those would be Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby. With those two on the roster, this team always has a chance of turning their season around. That’s fine. The Raptors don’t need to bottom out. 

If they improve or even stagnate in spite of this deal, it still nets them some valuable new assets. Meanwhile, as long as Siakam, Anunoby, and Scottie Barnes are on the roster, this team has options.
