Houston Rockets

Atlanta Hawks Receive: G/F Eric Gordon, F Jae’Sean Tate, C Alperen Sengun, F Kenyon Martin Jr., 2023 First-Round Pick (HOU), 2024 First-Round Pick (BKN via HOU), 2026 First-Round Pick (BKN via HOU), 2028 First-Round Pick (HOU), 2029 First-Round Pick (Swap – HOU)
Houston Rockets Receive: G Trae Young

Some Houston fans won’t love this deal. They’d rather stay in the Victor Wembanyama / Scoot Henderson sweepstakes.

Fair enough. Both of those prospects look downright generational. At the same time, the Houston Rockets could lose every game for the rest of the season, and the odds would still dictate that they were likely to pick 3-5.

Outside of the top two prospects, nobody in this class has Trae Young’s current trade value. Why take a risk on a player who may not even pan out if a ready-made superstar at a position of need is available?

Meanwhile, Atlanta’s interest in this deal would be contingent on their view of Alperen Sengun.
