Why The Washington Wizards Do The Deal
Disregard Bertans and Powell. They’re only here to make the money work. In essence, the Wizards are flipping Beal for Green, Hardy, and three first-round picks.
That’s a good return. Green has caught fire from long-distance this season, and he’s been a good defender since he entered the league. He looks like a long-term starter in the NBA.
Hardy’s upside is even higher. This is a player who was once seen as the best guard in his draft class. Hardy’s stock dropped, but his performance in the G-League of late has suggested that it shouldn’t have.
Still, the draft capital is the most valuable part of this deal for Washington. Three first-rounders feel like fair value for Beal.

When you consider that the Wizards will likely bottom out and enhance their own draft pick with this deal, it’s obviously a good way for them to trigger a rebuild.
Hopefully, they can draft their next star player this summer.
