Why The Toronto Raptors Do The Deal 

Some Raptors fans won’t like this deal. When you’re sending out your best player, that’s an inevitability. 

Make no mistake – Pascal Siakam is the best player on this Raptors team. In time, the organization hopes that Scottie Barnes can take that mantle, but he hasn’t done so yet. 

Of course, that’s partly what this deal is about – clearing the runway for Barnes. Functionally, he and Siakam are quite similar. One wonders if Barnes would benefit from being the primary playmaker on this team. 

Adding Ayton should make his life easier in that regard. After all, he’s a strong pick-and-roll finisher. Moreover, he’s a better rim protector than anyone currently on this roster.

Of course, adding two first-round picks doesn’t hurt, either. Should the Suns give so much up for Siakam?
