Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal 

This isn’t ideal for the Knicks. Let’s call a spade a spade in that regard. 

After all, they surrendered a first-round pick in exchange for Reddish. Consider that a sunk cost. At this point, Reddish’s trade value has plummeted. 

Moreover, he’s due for an extension on his rookie contract this summer. The Knicks don’t look prepared to give it to him. With that in mind, New York might as well get something in return for him before they lose him for nothing. 

A second-round pick is…something. Given the recent history of the draft, who knows? The Knicks may unearth a gem with this selection.
