With that said, trade value doesn’t only relate to a player’s production. Their salary counts, too. 

If a player is overpaid, their value drops. They may be a valuable on-court producer, but they also put a burden on your salary cap. No matter where your team stands, financial flexibility is important. 

Nobody could accuse Kyle Kuzma of being overpaid. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Given his production this season, he may be on one of the best-value contracts in the NBA. 

By contrast, John Collins may be overpaid a touch. He certainly is if we’re solely looking at his production this year.

With that said, it’s fair to wonder whether Atlanta is the best situation for him.
