Why The Atlanta Hawks Do The Deal 

The Hawks would be upgrading their roster while clearing cap space in one move here. It’s hard to decline a deal like that. 

Of course, it’s not quite as perfect as it sounds. Nothing could be. Kuzma’s deal expires after next season. If his production continues at its current level, he’ll be in line for a deal that roughly resembles Collins’. 

If he fits with this roster, he’ll be worth it. By all appearances, the Hawks already know they regret the deal they gave Collins. With that in mind, why not roll the dice on Kuzma? 

Meanwhile, Barton is a quality veteran contributor as well. He’ll be more useful to the win-now Hawks than the developing Johnson can be.
