The NBA is an unpredictable place. Yet, somehow, we dismiss possibilities as being unrealistic. The Utah Jazz being better than the Atlanta Hawks wasn’t on the list of projections at the start of the season.
Unrealistic. It’s the crutch of the unimaginative. A player sprouting wings and playing in the air is unrealistic. A team overperforming, or a star player getting traded is within the realm of possibilities.
For example, nobody expected the Utah Jazz to be as good as they’ve been this season. This team was supposed to be tanking, but at 15-12, they don’t appear intent on doing so.
Meanwhile, we weren’t supposed to be hearing murmurs about Trae Young’s relationship with the Atlanta Hawks.
Yet, we’re hearing them. The Hawks won’t rush to move Young, but somehow, the possibility feels more realistic than it did just weeks ago.
Here’s a deal that has him heading to the Jazz. Try to keep an open mind.
