This offense has become stagnant and predictable. Rose isn’t a co-star like Paul was for Harden – eventually, the Mavericks may need to land a more significant player. 

He’s still a steady, reliable secondary playmaker. For 2022-23, that’ll do. Best of all, this deal has the Mavericks landing him without giving up a single player that’s key to their rotation. 

Moreover, Rose is an elite floor spacer who can complement Doncic when he has the ball. That’s key. After all, the Mavericks may look to lighten Doncic’s load, but he’s going to remain the focal point of this offense no matter who they bring in.
