2. Tom Thibodeau Makes Necessary Adjustments
If there has been one consistent complaint made during Thibodeau’s tenure with the team it is that he struggles at times to make adjustments. He has been stubborn, to a fault, when it comes to relying on veterans, but that is something that he has shown a willingness to change, as Reddish is starting in place of Fournier.
While that was encouraging to see, schematically, there is still some work to be done. Thibodeau needs to find a way to successfully stagger the minutes of Brunson, RJ Barrett and Randle.
There are some overlapping skills there and for each of them to thrive, they should see their minutes staggered more, opening up the court for each of them.
Thibodeau also needs to find a way to better use Hartenstein. He is an extremely talented center, possessing a skill set that is not conducive to how Thibodeau is using him.

Right now, Hartenstein is used a lot as a screener and sits in the corners, similarly to how Mitchell Robinson is used.
That is a role Jericho Sims can fill perfectly, but Hartenstein needs to be deployed differently. The Knicks aren’t taking advantage of his vast skill set as he should be a hub offensively, someone that the team can use as a playmaker and space the floor as a threat from the 3-point line.

That kind of center isn’t one Thibodeau normally deploys, so he has to adjust to that instead of trying to jam a square peg into a circle hole making Hartenstein into something he isn’t.
