3. Trade A Veteran

The Knicks traded Kemba Walker, Alec Burks and Nerlens Noel this offseason while signing Brunson and Isaiah Hartenstein. No other veterans were traded, meaning that the roster had too many players worthy of a rotation spot but not enough minutes for everyone.

Making a trade seems inevitable at this point. Evan Fournier has been removed from the starting lineup and is now seemingly out of the rotation, so he would be a logical trade candidate. Some people would like to see Julius Randle traded, but it would likely take draft capital to move either player.

Cam Reddish is someone that teams will likely make calls on as he is beginning to come into his own after earning a spot in the starting five.

The likeliest trade candidate could be Derrick Rose. He has admitted that he and Thibodeau haven’t talked about his role despite it being scaled back massively compared to recent seasons.

Plenty of contenders could use a point guard of his caliber and as long as he can remain healthy, he has shown he can still get the job done. Rose, Fournier and Randle are prime trade candidates, but New York will do everything it can to not have to attach assets to move them.
