By all appearances, Deandre Ayton didn’t feel valued by the Suns in the offseason. After all, this team refused to offer him a maximum contract extension this summer. In mid-January, he’s eligible to be traded.
Meanwhile, Myles Turner couldn’t possibly feel welcomed by the Pacers. After all, his name has been in trade rumors for years by now.
The Pacers were the team to give Ayton the offer sheet he needed to force the Suns’ hands into actually paying him a four-year, maximum contract. Tyrese Haliburton even participated in the recruiting efforts.
