Why The Charlotte Hornets Do The Deal 

As it stands, the Heat are 5-7. They’ll probably improve. On the other hand, if this deal goes through, the Hornets will be hoping they stay on their current trajectory. 

After all, if both of these teams stayed in the lottery, this swap would increase the Hornets’ odds of landing a premium pick. Of course, they can only control their own fate. 

This deal helps them control it. They’re most likely giving up the best player in it. That’s a surefire way to land closer to the bottom of the standings. 

We say “most likely” because actually, we haven’t seen Oladipo in 2022-23.

Still, if he returns from injury and looks good, the Hornets can move him, too. Either way, if the objective is to tank, this deal is helpful.
