Miami Heat Receive: F Gordon Hayward 

There’s a common thread with every player in this trade. A few years ago, anyone would have expected any of them to be more productive than they are now. 

Duncan Robinson was supposed to be earning a fairly substantial contract. He’s one of the better movement shooters in the NBA, but unfortunately, his defensive limitations are significant. 

Still, he’s not nearly as disappointing as either Hayward or Oladipo. We’re not blaming them. Both of these players looked like stars until injuries derailed their careers.

Still, it would be hard to argue that they haven’t disappointed.

In some ways, this points to the dangers of tanking. NBA careers are wildly unpredictable: injuries can destroy even the most talented player. Still, some will argue that you have to roll the dice.
