Why The Miami Heat Do The Deal
The Heat have been disappointing in 2022-23. After facing none other than the Celtics in last year’s Eastern Conference Finals, they’ve regressed mightily at 4-7.
There are a couple of explanations for that. One is the departure of P.J. Tucker – the team has not filled that void. On the other hand, Kyle Lowry is showing his advanced age, too.
That’s where White comes in. He’d probably be the starting point guard for this group. While he’s a combo guard by nature, the combined frontcourt playmaking of Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler should make him a good option at the 1.
Moreover, this deal has the Heat getting off of Robinson’s contract too. Granted, they’re doing so at the cost of a first-round pick, but at least it’s lottery protected.
