Why The Atlanta Hawks Do The Deal
At some point, the Hawks have to choose between Onkongwu and Capela.
After all, they’re both rim-running, rim-protecting big men who don’t space the floor. Playing them at the same time is not tenable, and they’re both starting-caliber players.
Meanwhile, the Hawks are 7-4. The Dejounte Murray trade is clearly bearing fruit. This franchise is in win-now mode, so they might as well stick with the veteran Capela.
By that logic, it’s time to move Onkongwu. This deal brings them back another young player who should fit more easily into their rotation. Moody has flashed potential as a 3-and-D wing during his time in the league so far.
