Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal 

Of course, Simmons may not be the most problematic player on the Nets. 

On the court, his unwillingness to shoot has always caused complications for his team. Still, Kyrie Irving is, yet again, unable to play basketball for off-court reasons. His absence has a larger impact on his team than any limitation in Simmons’ game. 

As of now, Irving is suspended until he meets 6 requirements from the team. The Nets should plan as if he’s going to fulfill them. If they’re without Irving for the remainder of 2022-23, it probably doesn’t matter what kind of return they get for Simmons. 

If he’s able to return, the Nets have enough talent to salvage this season. This deal ought to help them do so. They’re receiving two quality players who, most importantly, can space the floor for Irving and Kevin Durant.
