Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal
Consider this a Hail Mary for the Nets. It’s a last-ditch effort to turn the ship around.
Perhaps they’ll want to see how they fare under new Head Coach Ime Udoka first. So far, they’re 0-1 since firing Nash. If Udoka can’t turn this ship around, the Nets may need to change course.
This deal may help them improve Ben Simmons’ play. Morris Sr. isn’t, strictly speaking, a centre. With that said, he can hold down the position. Meanwhile, he can give the Nets the spacing they need for Simmons to run point in the process.
Moreover, Powell may not be as gifted as Irving, but he’s still a talented scorer. Perhaps more importantly, he’s not a locker room liability either.
