Of course, tanking is not a surefire method to build an elite team. Realistically, no such surefire method exists. 

If it did, everyone would use it. Tank for long enough, and you’re likely to land a star. On the other hand, you’re likely to land a bust as well. After all, the NBA draft is not an exact science. Some players don’t live up to expectations. 

Some would argue that Mo Bamba is one such player. After all, Bamba was the 6th overall pick in the 2018 NBA draft. Many fans and analysts expected stardom from him. 

So far, he hasn’t quite met those expectations.

Bamba has unique physical gifts, but in terms of basketball skills, he remains raw four seasons into his career. At the same time, he could still develop into a useful player.
