Rebuilding an NBA team is difficult. It requires a series of judgement calls. 

One of those calls is whether or not to tank. If you have enough young talent on your team, you may opt against the process. At the same time, you could come to regret that decision down the road. 

After all, what looks like enough talent now may not be enough talent later. Yes, the Pacers have plenty of reasons to be optimistic. Tyrese Haliburton looks the part of a star, and Bennedict Mathurin is on a rookie of the year campaign already. 

Still, the future would be a lot brighter with Victor Wembanyama in the fold. The same holds true for Scoot Henderson, Amen Thompson, or any one of the top prospects in the upcoming draft.
