Why The Washington Wizards Do The Deal
The Wizards have been a pleasant surprise in 2022-23 thus far. At 3-1, they’re better than even the most optimistic fan could have expected so far.
On the other hand, rookie Johnny Davis has been somewhat of a disappointment. It’s far too early to write this young man’s career off. However, his odds of contributing to a winning team this season look increasingly slim.
If the Wizards are switching into win-now mode, it would suit them to make a win-now trade. With that in mind, the question is this: is Collin Sexton a win-now upgrade over Will Barton?
We’d suggest that he is. Sexton’s minutes have been somewhat limited in Utah, but his per-36 production has been very impressive. He looks like the same explosive scoring guard that was wowing fans as a Cleveland Cavalier.

Meanwhile, his fit with Beal may not be readily apparent, but in the modern league, running two attacking guards is feasible. Between them both, the Wizards should have enough firepower to make a playoff run.
