Why The New Orleans Pelicans Do The Deal
The Pelicans already look like dark horse contenders in 2022-23. With this deal, they’d officially be a super team.
Imagine a starting lineup of Karl-Anthony Towns, Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, Herb Jones, and C.J. McCollum. You can’t double-team anyone, and yet, four out of their five starters would demand a double team.
Defense? Excuse us? Sure, the Pelicans would have some limitations on that end. Herb Jones is an outstanding defender, but he’d certainly be taxed with a lot of responsibility with this group.
We don’t care. Could the Pelicans set a record for Offensive Rating? Where does this team rank among the most talented offensive teams in NBA history? If you ever have an opportunity to pose those questions, you should take it.
