There is something poetic about Green landing on the Pistons.
After all, Green is possibly the best defensive player of his generation. That should suit the Pistons perfectly. Throughout their history, they’ve seen their share of elite defensive players.
In fact, the Bad Boy Pistons of the late 80s and early 90s rostered plenty of them. Their offence was built around a dynamic backcourt of Isaiah Thomas and Joe Dumars, but they wouldn’t have won two championships if not for elite defenders like Dennis Rodman, Bill Laimbeer and others.
Meanwhile, the 2003-04 Detroit Pistons also won a championship on the strength of their defense.

It’s hard to identify a championship team with less offensive power, but between Ben Wallace, Rasheed Wallace, Tayshaun Prince and others, the Pistons were virtually impossible to score on.
On the other hand, scoring on this year’s version of the Pistons isn’t entirely difficult. Can Green fix that?
