Why The Phoenix Suns Do The Deal
Of course, you probably know why Jae Crowder requested a trade. Apparently, he lost his starting position to Cameron Johnson.
That makes sense. Johnson has emerged as one of the best shooting wings in the NBA. On the other hand, there’s no room for Crowder to start at the 3 either – Mikal Bridges may be the league’s best 3-and-D wing.
On the other hand, the Suns could badly use some guard depth. Cameron Payne is fine, but he’s closer to a ninth man than a sixth man.
By contrast, Rose is one of the best reserve guards in the NBA.

With that in mind, he’d be a perfect fit for these Suns. His elite floor spacing means that he’ll be able to thrive alongside either Rose or Paul. Meanwhile, his playmaking means he can carry the offense while they’re both resting.
If all goes well, adding him could give the Suns something to celebrate next summer.
