Of course, we can’t assume that any early season development owes to its small sample size. 

After all, the NBA is extremely difficult to predict. Players break out every year, and players regress. We may think we’ve got a handle on how the season will play out, but chances are, we’re wrong. 

At the same time – early-season noise is a real thing. No NBA team has played more than four games to this point. Nobody should assume that what’s currently happening will hold as a season-long trend, either. 

With that in mind, teams may not want to rush to action right now. Teams that are outperforming expectations may hold out to see if they continue to do so. If they do, they may pivot from tanking and remain competitive.

On the other hand, underperforming teams may head in the opposite direction.
