Why The Miami Heat Do The Deal 

The Miami Heat are one year removed from an Eastern Conference Finals appearance. They should be a good team in 2022-23. 

With that in mind, we’d advise them to do this deal tomorrow if it were on the table. The Heat shouldn’t let a 1-3 start deter them from making any available roster upgrade. 

Markkanen would be a significant one. In fact, he’s playing like an absolute superstar to kick off 2022-23. Even if that doesn’t hold, it’s clear that he’s got much of the offensive ability that once made him a lottery pick. 

He also happens to be a great fit for this roster. His ability to space the floor makes him a logical fit alongside Bam Adebayo. On defense, Markkanen is a solid weakside rim protector, but he can’t necessarily defend in space.

Luckily, Adebayo does so as well as any big man in the NBA. He can cover any ground Markannen cedes on that end.
