Golden State Warriors Receive: G/F Kelly Oubre Jr., F/C P.J. Washington, G Dennis Smith Jr., C Nick Richards
Charlotte Hornets Receive: F/C Draymond Green
Of course, acquiring a player who just punched his teammate in the face to improve a team’s culture will ring hollow to some.
Yet, it’s hard to fault Green for any cultural issues that may exist in Golden State. After all, he’s been an integral part of four championship runs for this team. If we could have been a fly on the wall at that practice, we’d have a more accurate picture of what happened.
We weren’t. Granted, it feels like Green’s actions are likely difficult to justify. Moreover, Greene has long been regarded as something of a firestarter. Whether that’s a benefit to his team or not is a matter of debate, but the Warriors’ track record suggests that it might be.
All told, that goes back to the same question about winning culture: what does it look like? Realistically, it can’t be rigidity defined.
