Sacramento Kings Receive: G/F Josh Green, G/F Frank Ntilkina
Dallas Mavericks Receive: G Davion Mitchell
Of course, Frank Ntilikina was supposed to be the type of player who’d be involved in a blockbuster.
When the New York Knicks selected him with the 8th pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, they surely expected a star player. Unfortunately, every lottery pick doesn’t pan out that way.
Ntilikina was supposed to be an ace defensive guard who doubled as a high-end playmaker. He’s got the former part down pat – Ntilikina will lock his man down on the point of attack. On the other hand, he struggles with self-creation: simply put, he isn’t a star offensive player.
Ironically, Mitchell is a similar player. He too is already a strong defensive guard in this league. With that said, his playmaking is at least further along than Ntilikina’s was at the same stage of his career.
