Why The Sacramento Kings Do The Deal
In simple terms, the Kings do this deal because they have De’Aaron Fox.
Furthermore, the Kings are in win-now mode. That alone isn’t a reason to move on from Mitchell – he’s already a quality rotation player who can help them win. On the other hand, it is a reason to diversify their rotation.
This deal helps them do exactly that. Green is an energetic, athletic wing who provides a lot of defensive value. His jumper is inconsistent, but if it starts to fall, he could be one of the best 3-and-D wings in the league.
Meanwhile, Ntilikina may not have met pre-draft expectations, but he’s still a quality rotation player. Outside of his defensive value, he’s also developed into an adequate floor-spacer.

All told, the Kings are adding two rotation players for the price of one here – and that player shares a position with their best player. This deal should make them a better team.
Can we say the same for the Mavericks?
