Why The Houston Rockets Do The Deal 

Firstly, there’s always a benefit in fulfilling a player’s trade request. It allows a team to get rid of a player who doesn’t want to be there. 

Martin seems like a professional young man. There are no rumors of rampant in-fighting with these young Rockets. Still, an unfulfilled trade request can fester. If the Rockets don’t get on top of this soon, they could have a problem on their hands. 

With that said, they don’t want to give Martin away, either. Luckily, this trade doesn’t have them doing so. In fact, it’s got the Rockets taking a flier on another interesting young player in Christie. 

Like Martin, Christie was a second-round selection. Unlike Martin, he hasn’t requested a trade from the Houston Rockets.
