Why The Philadelphia 76ers Do The Deal
Matisse Thybulle is one of the best defensive wings in the NBA. Unfortunately, it’s possible that you have a personal friend with more offensive skills.
We exaggerate for comic effect. Still, Thybulle’s three-point percentage seems to decrease every season. Perhaps more significantly, if he isn’t shooting, he’s not a strong ball-handler, passer, or cutter. Basically, he’s a one-way player.
For the contending Sixers, that’s an issue. This team needs to surround its trio of stars with players who can knock down the open shots they create for them. K.J. Martin is one such player.
Martin may not be a star, but he’s a much more functional offensive player than Thybulle. He consistently hits open three-point attempts, and he’s a strong cutter/lob finisher. He’ll make a good target for Harden’s pinpoint passes.

Finally, the Sixers could use Marjanovic as well. Montrezl Harrell is a good backup big man, but at 6’7, he’s undersized. The Sixers could use a big body to throw on the floor in situations that require one.
On the other hand, having just torn Thybulle’s game to shreds, it’s fair to ask: should the Rockets really target this guy?
