Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal
Well, it doesn’t give them the best offense in the NBA, that’s for sure.
It’s worth noting that the Bulls can’t trade LaVine until January 15th since they extended him this summer. That’s perfect – they houldnt be jumping into anything right now. There’s a lot of talent on this roster. If the Bulls are surpassing expectations, they ought to upgrade, not rebuild.
On the other hand, a slow start could lead the front office into considering more drastic measures. After all, the core group around LaVine is old. DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic could both decline this season. In that event, there might not be much here to hold onto.
If not, this is a good return for LaVine. Kuminga flashed real star potential in 2021-22. Wiseman has been slower to develop, but he’s still young enough to have great upside.

Finally, the Bulls could look to move Wiggins in a separate deal, or gain an inside track on re-signing him next summer if they’re not interested in a total tank job.
Either way, the Bulls, as currently constructed, don’t look the part of a budding dynasty. If they want to reach their prior heights, a big move might be necessary.
