Why The Charlotte Hornets Do The Deal 

Nobody is saying the Hornets couldn’t use Wembenyama. Of course, they could – all 30 teams in the NBA could. 

By contrast, it’s unlikely that they’re thinking about Scoot Henderson. With that in mind, the Hornets are tanking for slimmer odds. They could go 0-82 this season and still have a 14% chance at getting their guy. 

Meanwhile, we already outlined the negative impact of tanking. Furthermore, there have already been whispers about Ball’s discontent with the organization. With all of that in mind, it feels like chasing wins should be on the Hornets’ agenda this season. 

They’ll need a starting big man to do so. Mitchell Robinson would certainly qualify. In fact, his rim protection and lob finishing abilities would be a perfect fit for this team.
