Why The Sacramento Kings Do The Deal

Of every team in the NBA, the Kings need to make a playoff run. With that in mind, they should upgrade this roster at any cost.

Realistically, Harris is just a better version of Barnes. This deal allows the Kings to maintain their current vision, but upgrade it. 

Granted, Holmes is a valuable player. At the same time, he can’t co-exist with Sabonis. That relegates Holmes to reserve duties. With that in mind, he’s expendable to this team. 

Finally, the pick swap is absolutely a risk. The Pacers, as mentioned, don’t like to stay down for long. There is every possibility that they’ll be ahead of the Kings by the time this pick conveys.

On the other hand, the Kings are in no position to be risk-averse. Having pushed this far in by acquiring Sabonis, they might as well go all the way.
