Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal
Frankly, this isn’t really about acquiring Oladipo for the Knicks. It’s about moving on from Reddish.
After all, we just told you how low the organization appears to be on him. If they’re going to continue burying him on the bench, keeping him on the roster is pointless. After all, if Reddish isn’t playing, his trade value can only decrease.
In fact, it’s already at an all-time low. This trade can’t happen right away. The Heat extended Oladipo this summer, so he’s not eligible to be traded by January 15th. With that said, if the Knicks haven’t found a role for Reddish by then, they never will.
In that event, moving on would be best for both sides. With that logic in mind, a reasonably useful veteran and a second-round pick is more than nothing.
