Why The Dallas Mavericks Do The Deal
Here’s the thing: the Mavericks won’t need the same contributions from Lowry that the Heat did.
In case you missed it, they have Luka Doncic. The Mavericks are looking for a secondary playmaker who otherwise spaces the floor. Even at 36, Lowry should be able to provide that much.
Furthermore, Spencer Dinwiddie is still on this roster. If Lowry can provide even a fraction of the playmaking we’ve come to expect from him, the Mavericks should benefit here.
They’re parting with two players who probably wouldn’t have cracked their 2022-23 rotation anyway.

In other words, they’re pieces that just don’t fit the Mavericks’ puzzle anymore.
