If you’ve fantasized about being an NBA player, we can’t blame you. Whether they want to admit it or not, virtually every lover of the game of basketball has.
Besides NBA players, of course. More accurately, they used to – until they started living their dreams.
Meanwhile, you pictured yourself, alone in the park, in front of a sold-out stadium. In all likelihood, you pictured big, bright, flashing lights. Whether you knew it or not, you were fantasizing about being a star in one of the league’s biggest markets.
If big markets are so desirable, one would assume that they have an easier time building contending teams. Sometimes, that is the case. For example, the Los Angeles Clippers look as good as any team in the league heading into 2022-23.

On the other hand, the New York Knicks are an exception to that rule. They’re about to begin another of many years in a row in which they won’t be serious contenders for the NBA championship.
