Why The San Antonio Spurs Do The Deal
Here’s a question: why wouldn’t the Spurs do the deal?
After all, this organization just traded Dejounte Murray to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for three first-round picks and a swap. They’re obviously in rebuilding mode. With that in mind, they should value first-round picks above all else.
These just happen to be particularly valuable ones. After all, who knows where the Lakers will be down the road? LeBron James is 37, while Anthony Davis is 29. This team could easily find themselves in the lottery by 2029, if not 2027.
Finally, the Spurs need not worry about Russell Westbrook. Realistically, they can sit him out for the year, or buy him out.
