It would be hard to make a case against this deal for the Lakers.
We all saw how their 2021-22 season went. Frankly, it was dreadful. Westbrook’s inability to fit alongside LeBron James was well-documented. This deal brings in some veterans that will compliment the Lakers’ franchise player.
Crowder is the headline here. As we mentioned, he’s a strong 3-and-D wing. On the other hand, Conley could prove just as valuable. He’s one of the best floor-spacing guards in the entire NBA.
Shamet is mostly here to make the money work, but perhaps he could earn a spot in the Lakers’ rotation as well.

For what it’s worth, the Lakers have to do something. James is still an elite player, but he’s 37 – any year could be the first where he no longer resembles himself.
